Jim Ness

Jim was born and raised in Havre, Montana. He graduated from Havre High School in 1982 and from MSU Northern in 1987. He received a B.S. in Business Administration and a minor in Information Technology.

He started his banking career at US Bank in Havre while attending Northern Montana College. He spent three years at First Security Bank in Kalispell as a consumer lender. In 1990, he moved to Glacier Bank Family of Banks and is currently in his 34th year with the company, holding the position of President and CEO of First Security Bank which is a division of Glacier Bank.

While in Kalispell, Jim was the chairman of the Board of the Kalispell area Chamber of Commerce and the President of the Kalispell Downtown Association. He served on the board of the Gateway Community Center and served on the Kalispell Police Commission where he held the position of secretary. He was on the board of the Samaritan House, the local homeless shelter, for six years where he served as board chair for two years.

His involvement in the Bozeman community includes serving on the Bozeman Health Foundation board and finance committee. He just completed serving two terms on the board of Prospera and was board chair in 2018. He currently serves on the fundraising committee for Prospera. He served on the Bozeman Parking Commission and chaired the Commission for two years. He is a former board member and board chair for Yellowstone Fiber. He is also a current member of the Bozeman Sunrise Rotary Club.

Jim is married to his wonderful wife, Lori, and has one daughter named Jaymie. Jaymie is married and lives in Kalispell with her husband Jake Hoover.

He enjoys golfing, skiing, racquetball, running, biking, ping pong, playing guitar and spending time with his family.
